I had my puppy and I never cut him. But after a season of battling fleas and getting smitten, I decided to give him a good haircut myself. First, these clippers are fine. It took some effort to cut his hair, which made him uncomfortable. He didn't have matted hair or anything, he just didn't have the strength to hum. Although the dog wasn't very loud, the sound bothered him anyway. The tips are pretty good but feel like average quality plastic. The battery life lasted the whole time before I gave it a break. They look decent but aren't high quality clippers and are probably best suited to small dogs versus medium or large dogs. Cleaning the device was fairly easy. Not bad for the price, but there are better ones.
