I intend to use this hole saw on wood. I tested it on a piece of scrap pine. It cuts very well, but it was a bit difficult to cut through the last 1/16 to 1/8 inch of wood without breaking away the wood on the bottom side of the hole. Using another piece of wood under the work piece helped. I found that the spring may interfere with cutting a hole of a depth approaching the depth of the saw. The solid height of the spring is over 1/4 inch. When cutting a deep hole, the compressed spring could bottom out before the hole saw can cut through the material. The spring can be removed from the drill if it's not wanted. The center drill is long, so be sure it will not hit anything (like your work table) beyond the material into which you are cutting a hole.
