Amber isn't really amber

I picked these up hoping the yellow lights would be decently bright as shown in the pictures, but they actually look washed out and yellow. These are clearly low power white LEDs behind a cheap orange plastic panel. I can reuse the cases and install my own LED chips in them to salvage them, but the "amber" vending light looks amber and very dim.
