. I have to say that this is a very strong and heavy load and I'm not overly concerned that it won't hold my very energetic and strong dog. The clasps are heavy and seem to last a long time. But even after reading all the reviews complaining about difficult clasps, I figured they can't be that bad and ordered them anyway. The latches are big, heavy, and I have to use two hands to operate them, and I sometimes found it impossible when my dog was on and not sitting perfectly still. I ended up attaching a strong carabiner to the end that I attach to his collar and it's a lot easier. My other complaint is that it tangles easily, meaning the plastic coating cracks and breaks very easily. In the first 3 weeks of light use it already looked very worn and broken in many places. It's been about 6 weeks now and it's getting very difficult to keep that kink and knot loose. The cable is now exposed in many places, but I haven't noticed any rust on the cable. For this reason, I cannot say with certainty that it will last until spring. I will most likely not buy this particular model again as I have difficulty with the clasps (note that my husband, who has much larger hands than mine, had no problems with the clasps although they are all still uncomfortable to open) . The plastic coating breaks so easily. I live in Canada on the east coast and need something that weathers the winters a little better. I bought a large dog anchor kit that was recommended for this and I highly recommend it!
