Review on Toshiba EM131A5C-BS Smart Sensor Microwave Oven: Easy Clean, ECO Mode, 1.2 Cu Ft, Black Stainless Steel by Kip Robinson

Update: After almost two years of use this microwave oven works well and I am still very happy with it. The kitchen will be renovated later this summer and our old GE microwave that came with the house had to be replaced to fit. (GE performed well and adequately, but was a fashion faux pas in any setting.) After reading many reviews of mid-range microwave ovens, I decided to give this Toshiba a shot. The kitchen will have a black sink and commercial faucet, a light gray countertop with dark veining/patterns, and a dark gray tile floor. So the color and looks of this Toshiba are perfect. More important are a few things I've noticed in the short time I've had this machine. Above all, it's quiet! At least it's a lot quieter than the old GE. Second, various settings work well. I used a sensor heater for the first time last night and it worked very well. I have yet to try other automatic settings; I have never used many of these settings in the past. But this little guy intrigued me for some weird reason. One or more reviews said they couldn't turn off the beep even after following the instructions. It works; Just press #8 on the keyboard long enough. The trick is to hold the button down long enough. The manual says 3 seconds but I think it's closer to 4 seconds. This setting will revert to the default if the power goes out and the device restarts, but that's to be expected. In general I am very satisfied so far. When I get more practice I'll try to remember to update this review. I've always been happy with most Toshiba products, including the 39 inch LED TV I bought from Revain a few years ago.
