I washed and dried as soon as I got it. I noticed that if you stick within 300°F and 330°F that it works really well and there isn't any melting of the hair. I blew dryed it before straightening it. This is a lot smaller than I anticipated, but it's nice. I like to use it on a yoga mat for deeper stretches or reaches. Soft fabric, firm bolster. If you put your full weight on it, it collapses just a little, then pops right back up if you shift, so it's always catching your weight. Nice if you have balance issues.
