NO COLD AIR INTAKE

I found the written instructions sufficient but could be more detailed. It would be better if the instructions indicated which bolts and nuts to use at each step for proper assembly. I really believe I assembled and installed it correctly according to the instructions. After assembly, I noticed that there are very large gaps around the heat shield. Specifically, where the intake pipe goes through the heat shield, there is a gap of more than Β½ around it. I noticed that the universal adapter has threaded inserts but no fasteners to attach to the heat shield. The heat shield also doesn't drop far enough or forward toward the front of the car to properly block hot air from the radiator/engine front. After all, this is a "cold air" intake, not a "warm air intake" under the hood. I have sent the above comments with photos to K&N after speaking to tech support and have not received a response. I called tech support again regarding my concerns and was told the Black Hawk IS NOT A COLD AIR INTAKE KIT. He told me that "under the hood everything is heated, so it doesn't matter." If the heat shield had been designed a little differently than my wife's Challenger, it would have worked better. I'm happy with the sound the exhaust makes now when I push it past 3000 rpm. Didn't notice any MPG increase.
