Review on Nikon D5100 Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens - High Resolution 16.2MP by Amit Kumar (Amit) ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I definitely recommend buying, I didn't notice any disadvantages.

I wanted to make a conscious and correct choice when buying a CZK, to find the optimal combination of price / quality, without overpaying for what I don’t need, but taking it to the maximum, so that I wouldn’t be disappointed in my choice. For a long time I studied on the Internet the features of digital photography, reviews, reviews, comparisons of cameras and other information from the structure of the matrix and lenses with their optical properties, to RAW processing in photo editors. All the same, film is one thing, and digital is completely different, although the general methods of composition and angle are the same, but their technical implementation is different. In general, I spent two months reading and studying. As a result, I came to the conclusion that in terms of price / quality ratio, the entire Nikon 5XXX line is the best choice for amateur photographers. The 5100 is the most inexpensive camera yet with huge potential for realizing your creative desires. If money allows, then take those better than 5200, and even better, 5300. The matrix, the focusing system, and the processors in them, that is, all the most basic, is used from cameras of a more "older" model range - "7XXX" Important: If you subconsciously or consciously understand in advance that it will be difficult for you to carry around with you a rather large and weighty camera in a bag over your shoulder. Or you can’t imagine yourself with a large SLR on a strap around your neck on the streets of the city - stop. Why would you take something that you can't always carry with you and use every day? Why buy something that will gather dust on a shelf or be used for a couple of days in the summer in the country? Stop your choice on one of the "system cameras". There are excellent, small cameras, with a large matrix, interchangeable lenses and creative modes. These are, for example, the lines: Sony NEX, Samsung NX, Nikon 1

Pros
  • The quality of photographs, color reproduction and image detail, speed, ergonomics Nikon - at its best. The price justifies itself by 200%.
Cons
  • Just one programmable button, I put ISO on it, I shoot in RAW, so in principle, one button is enough. Aperture and exposure are also adjusted by turning the control dial while pressing / releasing the "exposure compensation" button, and nothing else needs to be changed during the shooting process, so the absence of several programmable buttons is not critical for me. It takes a long time to catch focus in LiveView mode, which, again, is not very important to me, since I shoot mainly through the viewfinder.

I have been using it for more than 3 years, I am completely satisfied with the camera. There are many wonderful pictures in the family album. The problem with autofocus noise on video recording is solved by buying an external microphone, or shooting with manual focus and aiming before shooting. Recommended for all photography lovers.

You can’t call it a professional SLR, but you can call it a good soap box.
