I bought this router and paid $499 when it was first released in December 2015. Last month the 2.4Ghz link drops all connections and won't connect until I reboot the router. When it connects, devices show up, but they don't get internet. I can only access the internet through a wired connection and now the 5.0 GHz channel is down as well. I contacted Asus support (to no avail) and besides the fact that I could barely understand the tech, he was kind enough to walk me through various steps such as: 1. Is your router connected to the network? 2. Is your router connected to a modem? 3. Have you updated the firmware? 4. Have you contacted the local cable company? He told me I would have to send the router in for repair at my expense, shipping would be $30 each way and $279 for router repair. A new Asus AC5300 is $279 at Revain, so they're essentially asking me to pay more to fix my old router than to buy a new one. My solution: I just bought a Netgear AX8 and Asus will be a very expensive door. Stop Asus never again!
