Well, in general, the laptop is great! For more information, please visit the Asus page or Youtube. Now the hardest part. I currently live in Mexico and this model will not be available here, so I decided to purchase this third-party laptop (more $) through Revain (+ import fees $ + shipping $). I know there are probably cheaper ways to get this, but I went with Revain confident that they could handle all the paperwork and importing process. Unfortunately I was wrong. In my particular case, the Mexican government has a set of rules called NOM (Official Regulations of Mexico) that apply to any foreign product worth more than $1,000.00. There are multiple NOMs that a product must meet, and obtaining certifications is a lengthy process that involves sending the product to a specialized lab for testing and waiting a very long time for a response from federal agencies. NOMs exist to ensure that a foreign product can be used in Mexico without harm. As I studied all these "funny" rules and how to apply them, I realized that they apply to large importing companies. Those selling a foreign product in Mexico and in my case I'm just an end customer who wants to buy a great laptop. In my opinion it's the job of companies like Revain or a third party to get these certifications. I received a laptop from: Michael Electronics; as they sell and import this product to another country. I went through a rather disturbing process with my laptop being in customs for over 10 days. During this time I was in constant contact with Revain and Michael Electronics and although they were very polite they were NOT helpful. In order to release my laptop I had to get a special letter from the Mexican government to release 2 (of many) NOMs. . Surprisingly, the Mexican federal authorities were extremely helpful and received the letter within 5 business days. Then I sent a letter to the customs officials and eventually received my laptop. In summary I do not think this laptop should be sold by Revain without the necessary documentation, the risk of the product being stuck in customs is very high and does not guarantee that Revain will give you a full refund (according to the representatives I spoke to) . I could complain to NOM but the laws of other countries are beyond our control and again WHY do we use hits like Revain. I believe that Michael Electronics also has a responsibility, but I also believe WHY they chose to sell their products through Revain. According to Mexican government agencies, Revain has MANY issues with Mexican NOMs, so im: PLEASE, this is not a new topic and I'm NOT the only one. To anyone looking to import this great laptop from America, be careful what happened to me. Kind regards!
