Review on Uniden R1 Extreme Detector Degree by Donald Vargas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

No complaints, but only limited use for me so far

I like it so far. Noise filters work very well. I'll leave my K-band on for now. The rural areas I visit aren't bad with false positives, but they filter out most of what I encounter, so it doesn't bother me yet. If it starts to bother me I'll switch to City 2 or just turn off the K-band. The KA-band is at least a mile away from an experience I had on a local small town cruiser parked a mile away. I haven't had long enough time to talk more about KA or the ability to pick up signals from the side or behind or other bands as it's still riding season here and I mostly bike. The display is brighter than some others and there are still no problems even in bright sunlight. It would have been easier to update the firmware using a computer, but that wasn't a problem for me as I'm relatively computer literate, but those who don't will likely have trouble updating their computers. Check youtube. There are at least a few videos that can help. I had to download the Windows drivers for the computer to work with the detector, and then install and determine the utility to communicate between the detector and Windows, as well as the firmware updates and language update. It turned out that it had to be new goods from later deliveries after mid-August. While I like it we'll see how it performs over time but I expect good results from what I've seen so far.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • No performance
