This cup holder simply slips over the armrest of a sofa or loveseat and the weight and non-slip material stays in place. I mainly used it for cups, small bottles and glasses. There is an insert that can be inserted to hold smaller glasses and bottles more securely. Without an insert, there is a slot on the bottom that you can insert a wine glass in for a more secure, wobble-free hold. There is even a hole on the side so you can put a mug with a handle in it and it fits very well. This holder is also handy for placing the phone so it doesn't slip between the sofa cushions, as it always does for me. A few weeks. I found the mount secure even when I put my elbow on the back of the sofa next to the mount. However, I keep an eye on this when my cat is getting up and on his feet as I think she may knock the drink over, especially if she is on the higher side.
