The knife can fall off your BC and injure the fish

I'm giving these two stars because I can fix what broke the first dive, but if anything else breaks I'll be back to fix it to return it is 1 star. This is my wife's knife that I put in the holes in my BCD bag. Two more knives, which finally got them to the point where they wouldn't close in their sheaths. This one has a different locking mechanism and an easier way to get it than just trying to pull it out of its case. For added protection against losing the knife, I threaded a 1/4" bungee through the hole in the handle and formed a loop that I pulled around the base of the sheath (see 1st image). Even with the clasp closed ", so the knife is held in the bungee sheath. What I didn't expect was that all of the sheaths would come loose from the BCD due to the locking nuts breaking easily. The sheath is held to the BCD with two small stainless steel hex head screws that go through Drill the buoyancy compensator and screw it into the plastic square nuts that are attached to the back of the case. Each hex screw head (approx. 1/4" diameter) is screwed into a large plastic washer approx. 1" diameter and 1/4" " Thickness poured. You turn this dial to tighten the screw in the nut on the shell. The problem is that if this washer is tightened properly, there is a risk that the head of the hex bolt will come loose from the washer since you are applying more torque than the joint can handle. Also, this disc is easy to break off the bolt head by putting something in or pulling something out of the BC pocket. If the large plastic washer detaches from the small screw head, it can simply be pulled through the jacket fabric. If this happens to both bolts, your knife and scabbard are probably missing. I'm not sure what happened to my wife's knife, but when she came back from about her sixth dive, it was dangling from one of them. Bolt. The washer for the other screw had broken off in its BCD pocket and the head of the small hex screw went straight through the BCD (see 2nd photo). It stayed in the dive bag on the boat until the end of the trip. Another issue is that the stainless steel screws are about 3/8" long and the plastic nut they go into has a closed threaded hole that is only about 1/8" long. 8 inches deep. This means that in the delivery condition it is impossible to actually tension the shell against the buoyancy compensator. Therefore, the shell will most likely hang on the buoyancy compensator. It's quite possible to get a solid mount if your BC has metal holes for attaching a knife and the bushings are the right thickness. However, if your bushings are a bit thicker, the bolts will likely only catch on one or two threads of their nuts. (Hint: Pour plenty of thread-locking fluid into the nuts.) I think I have solutions to all of these problems, but I've gone too far. I am happy to offer them to Aqua Lung for compensation to be specified later and they can incorporate the fixes into their next generation knife. In the meantime, consider these design flaws when purchasing and come up with your own creative solutions. Of course you can hang a knife on the inflator hose and let it flap around there. Perhaps you could take a retro approach and clip it to your Lloyd Bridges-style leg. If you're really good at using air, you can hold it between your teeth like the Seal Team 6 guys did and blow it out about every 5 minutes to catch your breath. Workarounds for BCD problems abound. Whatever your choice, it's helpful to think of this knife and sheath as a "set" that you'll need to customize a bit to make it work.
