are the same caps on the end that are WELDED onto the vinyl material to hold it in place. Absolutely not a good solid construction. Any wind pulling the umbrella material, even a strong opening of the umbrella, can potentially easily break the melted plastic part of the cap. There is no sewing to hold it on the tips (I'm sure you can sew through vinyl). And on the arms of the umbrella itself there are no seams and no fasteners. This is very disappointing as the umbrella is very beautiful. But really poorly or cheaply built. Some of the other reviewers said the same, but I went ahead and bought it hoping it was just her imagination. Now I know why they gave such reviews. Hope this helps other potential buyers.
