Review on Dayton Audio HTA20BT Hybrid Stereo Tube Amplifier: Bluetooth 4.2, USB Aux in, Headphone & Sub Out by Holly Bryant

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great performance at a great price

With an all-metal body (plastic transformer cover) and comfortable handles, the fit and finish is excellent for the price. The main reason I originally looked at it was the fact that it has a subwoofer output (most other tube amps are stereo only) and I have an old active subwoofer that I wanted to use. I've paired it with two Dayton Audio B452 speakers and a Sony subwoofer and it sounds great even with standard Chinese tubes (although I plan to try a few other types). It has two additional inputs, a USB port for USB drives and Bluetooth (connected a computer and a player via BT as a test). I've tried them all and they work great as you would expect. It also has a headphone output on the back for quieter listening at night or when loud music isn't the best. Just a great little tube hybrid amp. It doesn't have tone controls, but you can connect one of the tube preamps with tone controls to one of the AUX inputs. I would definitely recommend this to others as well. I only wish Dayton Audio would release more tubes like this in the future.

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
