Nightmare before installation

Replaced the old hood fan and liner. This is the same part from the same manufacturer that I replaced but 18 years newer. The old one had a flange on the blower unit so it could just be screwed into the sleeve with a metal screw. It also had a standard 7 inch vent outlet. As new and technically in order. However, I don't know what they thought about the editing. There is no metal-to-metal mounting flange. In fact, the instructions say to attach a piece of wood to the liner so the vent assembly can screw it in from the side! Who takes two metal implements and then uses wood as a mounting structure? It makes no sense. The 6" vent also requires a 7" adapter if you already have an outer tube vent. I was able to properly screw the MacGyver metal to metal and screw the sheet metal around the device properly. What took minutes with the 18-year-old hood took hours with the new 2020 hood.
