Review on πŸ“ Oshlun Stainless Steel Metric/Imperial Fractional Caliper MTDCF06 by Jason Hayes

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good size caliper

Apple or Mercedes will manufacture. A lot of thought has gone into the design and it shows in the details. But it is very good and works perfectly. It's accuracy is absolute. Several reviewers noted that the sentiment was wrong. One said it was serious and another said there was a "hump" at work. I feel neither one nor the other. The action is smooth as silk with no roughness throughout the range. the needle always returns to zero (the dial is adjustable if for some reason it is necessary) In fact the device appears to be an exact copy of the Fowler device (with a marking of 0.02mm), but this one is in fractions per inch. It replicates the best instrument very closely, with minor differences, but those differences are enough to make you feel like it's not in the same class as the more expensive instruments. It's about half the price. So we have an instrument that looks and feels almost like those that cost two to five times as much, and in fact is just as accurate as them. It has sharper corners, is more likely to snag and is perhaps a little less "hard" in its action, but it's still very smooth, very well made and doesn't disappoint. If I hadn't had more expensive comparison tools, I never would have known that anything could be done better. I want to say that this is a wonderful measuring tool that never wears out and always measures. will definitely not disappoint. Impressive to see, hold and use. There's no reason to avoid it; it's a good tool at a good price. It requires no batteries and its dial is always easy to read. It also has tenths of an inch on the scale, so it's a dual scale device. It also has millimeters on the shaft but not on the dial. I use it often even though I have thinner calipers. I'm not afraid to drop it or use it where it might get dirty because it's NOT the most expensive. And also. The results are exactly the same as if I had used Brown & Sharpe. I suspect Brown & Sharpe reads more accurately as its scale is 10 times more sensitive than this one, but it's still a great tool.

Pros
  • 6 inch caliper with plastic storage box
Cons
  • Slightly dented
