Threads very well; I've used it on a stiffer yarn (for outdoor fabrics) and it works great. The blades are sharp, there are no gaps between them. Quickly returns to the open position after cutting. Feels strong like it's going to last. I bought them specifically for the hat so I can safely put them in my bag. The lid fits snugly; Also, I can hold scissors with the fingers of one hand and slide the cap back. Useful when the other hand is full of fabric and I haven't unbuttoned the cap. Never used with anything other than sewing thread. An absolutely worthwhile purchase.
