Convenient to use, easy to get dirty
The practical holder makes it easier to work with several brushes and store clean brushes until they dry. Also, plastic gets dirty very quickly - the photo shows how the bucket looks now after just one watercolor (and these were good branded watercolors, not cheap Chinese fakes). Wiping with a dish sponge didn't help. Considering how badly the bucket was soiled with plain water, I don't think using the lid as a mixing palette is a good idea.
