Change your sliding glass door to avoid damaging the handle again.
This is my second similar "aftermarket" handle for my very heavy sliding glass door. was needed so that the handle does not hit the other door frame when opening. This constant banging of the handle against the opposite door frame was what caused the first handle to fail. The "stop block" is unobtrusive and definitely gets the job done!
