Holds cat litter very well. I used to have a smaller one and it worked really well on the front of the tablet. I have one, and now it has a litter box on it. The area around and in front of the tray is now carpeted. I used the smaller one for the back of the litter box. We have two cats and they tracked a lot of junk from the back room to the basement. This garbage mat will help. I also have a Roomba in the next room that vacuums up the rest of the trash on a daily basis. Cleaning is not too difficult. Since the carpet is big, it is not so easy to bend it into the desired shape to easily dump all the garbage. But that's to be expected. I also wash it in the sink once a week. It's flexible enough that I can tuck it in to rinse. I just wipe dry. You'll have to stretch to dry the middle flat part, but that's easy. Once I wipe it off, the rest of the air dries pretty quickly. I don't think there's anything that keeps all that junk out, but this is the best rug I've ever had.
