I just installed this in the cozy cabin of my boat. Since it's inclement weather I left out the rubber plugs on the back, but if installed outside they would come in handy. The radio fitted perfectly into the case (too perfect. It was difficult to pull the radio out again after I put it in to check the fit) and I was able to flip the case over in the bracket. There was plenty of room on the back of the case to tuck away excess cables, and the lid has a wide, flat (about 1/16 inch thick) rubber grommet to keep water out. Some glue may be required for the seal. to keep it in the future. If I were to mount the block outside I'm not sure how well it will hold up but for my needs it's perfect.
