I purchased this hat to wear on a beach vacation. I'm very fair-skinned and have to be mindful of the sun, but I want to look stylish as well, and who doesn't love a good hat? The material is soft, it comes with a chin strap attached- I didn't use it that way, I actually stretched the strap over my shoulder and wore the hat like a backpack when I went into stores. It blocked a great amount of sun and covered the back of my neck entirely. I only knocked one point off for comfort in terms of that I personally felt too hot under it after walking awhile, but this could really just be me and the fact that there's a heat wave. =) I'm picky with summer hats and I would definitely recommend this!
