Review on System Satellite Voice Speaker NETGEAR by Gary Duncan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quality signal - difficult to set up

The system was easy to set up - until you had a problem. Replacing my existing Linksys router with an Orbi router went smoothly; continue to use the same network name and password. The addition of Orbi's 1st satellite was almost automatic. However, adding a voice satellite was extremely difficult and problematic. The voice connection was not connected as a satellite, but connected to the router's Wi-Fi, which I could see in the "Devices" section. Nothing I could do (maybe reinstalled 10 times) made a difference, and there was no help in the documentation I could find. The support links on their website were more obfuscated/circular than DMV and/or SSA. When I finally got in touch with a live technician they didn't know anything - 52 mins "let me check that", 3 calls dropped when they called me back and they didn't acknowledge the person's lack of knowledge. When I found another 4 hour free box and contacted tech support again, this person was knowledgeable and attacked the issue head-on. However, I couldn't understand anything myself. We spent 20-30 minutes reconfiguring the voice device to set it up in satellite mode. It was a lot of "press, hold, wait for it to blink, wait for it to light up, turn off power, turn on power," etc. She knew what she was talking about and was very patient. Finally, your system is now set up correctly and is working well. User Suggestions: 1) Place the system - all three units - in one room and then move the satellites to the desired location. You may need to access them at the same time. 2) Obtain and store a phone number for technical support. Support.4) If you meet someone who doesn't know what they're talking about, hang up and call back. Obviously there are big differences in competence. 5) If you have any problem, please be patient-----very patient.
