Review on JUN-ELECTRON 3.5 inch Raspberry Touchscreen Display Monitor, 320X480 Resolution - E361 by Stayce Underwood

It's easy to get it working, but gets very hot and may not work in many scenarios.

It's not the best display, but it's suitable for some scenarios. Just make sure you understand what you are buying and the case is not well ventilated so it gets very hot. I wanted this showcase to play music and control it with my finger, but Kodi doesn't work with it, so my project didn't work as expected. It's good that it works, so I'll have to experiment a bit until I find a new target. The contacts are detailed on the manufacturer's website, so I'm considering removing the display from the case and throwing that case away and just leaving the display to keep the Pi cooler. Pros: • Easy driver installation (only tested on Raspbian) • You even have OS images preinstalled with the driver if you prefer that option. • Hardware support for screen rotation with a very simple script provided. Cons: • Very hot (too hot) • You cannot switch between HDMI and HAT. Not surprising as it's clearly stated by the manufacturer, but it's still something to consider when purchasing this product • The case doesn't have adequate ventilation if you're using a display HAT and it gets very hot (around 25° C hotter than without) • The overall quality of the case is poor eg the screw mounts on the top of the case intended for use without HAT broke when I tried to add a fan. • Some applications can crash your Pi badly. It crashed every time I tried to run Kodi on Raspbian. • The resolution is very low so it can be difficult to read text/commands. Again, this is not a surprise, but buyers should be wary • The heatsinks are a bit small to fit with a display hat and fan.
