So I found out that if you have an HDMI cable from your CD player (or BR player), it carries the same audio data as here. So unless your HDTV is old or your amp/receiver is old, you probably won't need this for your BR player. HDMI is better in a way because it connects and works. However, you need to understand your BR player and AVR for it to work. If this is not the case, you may not hear any sound through this cable and through HDMI. I had to fiddle with Sony's confusing controls for a while to make sure the sound was identical. I'm keeping it because I'm hoping to get a dedicated CD player and use it for that.
