Review on πŸ’» Plugable 7-Port USB 3.0 Hub: High-Speed Connectivity with 36W Power Adapter by Myrv Santamaria

I like it so far, good form factor.

So far I'm enjoying using the extra ports for extra drives on my Mac mini. I like the form factor. Small lights make it great in a darkened room. I ordered a new cable the day after I received it. It's slightly smaller than my use case. I think that most users will have no problem with this. However, I routed mine through a hole in the wall to hide the wiring and it defiantly added a reduction in available length. As far as speed goes, there doesn't seem to be a problem copying files etc. I am currently using 2 disks for time machines and 2 disks for cloning with no issues alongside the cache disk and some other smaller disks. I like that it provides enough power for my unpowered drives. I chose the Plugable brand because my wife already has a Plugable dock and it works much better than I expected. Plus, its clean lines helped keep it simple. The only downside is that the power button is easy to press. Be careful when you pick it up or you might accidentally click on it. It works very well, I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it works. I've had poor results with the hub in the past and this has left me with a faint desire to get bitten again. This little champ works wonders though and I'm glad I spent the money. You can see it in the attached image next to the top of the ethernet cables and switch.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Big and chunky
