Bought this instead of a hub for $299, it's what I needed, works great!

So far - perfect. I originally ordered a $299 Thunderbolt 3 hub for my new iMac, but returned it because it was behaving strangely. But my advisor suggested that I really need a powered USB 3 hub. So I did a little research and settled on this one. It's 1/10th the price, much smaller and simpler, but much closer to what I need, which is to connect 5 or 6 external Western Digital Passport 2TB USB 3 drives at the same time. I still don't know if the amount of power fed to each Western Digitalโ€ฆ

Works great but NOT compatible with TP-ink Archer C5400 USB 3.0 Router

Arrived quickly, well packaged and in excellent condition. The device works great as advertised unless plugged into a router port. Purchased for use with TP-LINK Archer C5400 with USB 3.0. The idea was to connect two 500GB laptop drives via an external hub power supply. Connecting three different brand hubs stopped transferring data. A word of caution for TP-Link router owners: even after lengthy contact with TP-Link technical support, the router has not reconfigured the drive connected to this

The hub sucks. Randomly turns off power to individual devices. I hear the window sound "device connected/disconnected" every few minutes. The same when connected to one of my Linux devices. I had to use power strips to power the main storage devices, which works and shows that the hub at least keeps the data pins connected despite the power outage. Works great when it works, really fast USB3 speeds and amazing transfer between two portable SSDs on the same hub, and ports 1 and 7 are definitelyโ€ฆ

I like it so far, good form factor.

So far I'm enjoying using the extra ports for extra drives on my Mac mini. I like the form factor. Small lights make it great in a darkened room. I ordered a new cable the day after I received it. It's slightly smaller than my use case. I think that most users will have no problem with this. However, I routed mine through a hole in the wall to hide the wiring and it defiantly added a reduction in available length. As far as speed goes, there doesn't seem to be a problem copying files etc. I amโ€ฆ

Functionally great, but the footprint is larger than expected.

I have no complaints about the functionality of this product. It's proven reliable (at least in the few months I've had it) but I have to limit my rating to 3 stars because while it appears to be a very clean and thin profile piece with a small footprint, this is a huge disappointment. Use a proprietary USB-BC cable used to connect to a computer. The B end that connects to the hub is at least TWO INCHES before it even gets to the cable. That means this otherwise slim USB hub is 4 inches wideโ€ฆ
