Review on πŸ’» Plugable 7-Port USB 3.0 Hub: High-Speed Connectivity with 36W Power Adapter by Flavio Scarola

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Functionally great, but the footprint is larger than expected.

I have no complaints about the functionality of this product. It's proven reliable (at least in the few months I've had it) but I have to limit my rating to 3 stars because while it appears to be a very clean and thin profile piece with a small footprint, this is a huge disappointment. Use a proprietary USB-BC cable used to connect to a computer. The B end that connects to the hub is at least TWO INCHES before it even gets to the cable. That means this otherwise slim USB hub is 4 inches wide, even before you plug in your own devices. Quite a bit, which means that if you want to tuck it into some sort of cable management box it's going to have to be quite large, which isn't ideal for a desktop item. It would be much better if the power came out at one end, which would greatly affect the layout of this item. Yes, it would be possible to squeeze it into a small space, but that would inevitably put pressure on the cable over time, which I'm sure you'll agree isn't very good. Even if they couldn't change the interior to accommodate the connection at the end. , they should have at least had angled power and USB cables to compensate for this design flaw. It's a shame, because otherwise it's still working fine to this day. But if 3 stars are reserved for "It's OK" then here I am! I would like to send it back, but it's too late.
