These night lights are pretty cool. You have an easy to reach switch on the front of the unit to dim or dim the light. The PROBLEM with the sensor is that there needs to be enough light for the lights to turn off during the day. If you leave or open the curtains and let in plenty of sunlight, you will be fine. But if you have them in a room that isn't THAT well lit, or if the room seems normal to you but the device is plugged in away from the light, it won't turn off and stays on all the time throughout the day. .
