Generally this mug works as it should. There is a mark on the side as in the description. However, I am disappointed with this for two reasons. First, you were careful when watering. The spout on this product is unusually small making it far more likely to spill than my other measuring cups. I've used it 5 times and every time I've spilled something, even when I thought of watering more carefully. My husband and mother-in-law said the same thing. The other reason was that I bought the mug because it said it was 36 oz and most of them are 32. And yes, it goes up to 36 oz. In reality, however, it is no more than 32 ounces. It just has one more tick at the top and less white space. I needed a slightly larger measuring cup since I mix every night. It was really disappointing as it was the same!
