Review on Acer A517 52 59SV I5 1135G7 Graphics Fingerprint by Dustin Gabrielle

Great buy but could be better.

Let me start with that. I love this laptop and I think it's a very good buy. good viewing angles and decent brightness. The 11th generation Intel processor performs very well, loads everything very quickly and handles multiple tasks with ease. The WiFi connection is also excellent, the connection is fast and stable. Good, nothing more. The keyboard is nice and roomy but I wish the keys were bigger, this laptop has plenty of room for big keys like CTRL, ALT etc and especially the small up/down arrow keys need more attention because I was holding the Shift key key when trying to press the UP arrow key or UP key when trying to press the DOWN key. I also miss the indicator light for the Caps & Num Lock keys. The touchpad is large and comfortable to use, the ds responds very well. Battery life seems decent, I haven't tested much but it seems you can expect at least 4-5 hours of battery life, maybe more if you use lower brightness. Port reclassification gives you 2xUSB3, 1xUSB-C (5Gbps), 1xHDMI (2.0), 1xRJ45 LAN, 1xUSB2, 1x3.5mm audio - good, but I wish Acer had Thunderbolt 4 on board since Intel 11 support 11th generation processors. (Arbitrary) technical info about this laptop, no detailed specs of RAM, NVMe SSD except size, no tech info, upgrade details, IPS panel color specs etc. I wanted to upgrade the RAM but couldn't find any info that supports it are the RAM of this laptop and the speed of its operation. So I would like to share what I found with other potential buyers: This laptop is equipped with 8 GB of dual-channel DDR4 2666 MHz memory (4 GB soldered on board + 1 x 4 GB expansion module). A bit strange for me because according to Intel specs I5 and I7 of 11th gen support DDR4-3200MHz, so I can't understand why Acer used lower speed memory? Who knows, it doesn't bother, but it's a little disappointing, and I wish this information was written somewhere for the benefit of potential buyers. The 1 memory module you can upgrade is Kingston 4GB DDR4-2666MHz Model: ACR26D4S9S1KA-4. I wanted to upgrade the memory to 20GB by replacing it with a 16GB module, and I also wanted to keep some of the dual-channel functionality by using Intel's dual-channel "flex mode" since the memory modules are not working. the size. So I bought a 16GB DDR4-2666 module with the closest specs I could find locally, Kingston model: KVR26S19S8/16. Installed the module and the laptop booted without any problems, correctly recognizing the new RAM and also enabling dual memory. Channel - great, but once again I would like someone to write what compatible memory you need to buy for an upgrade. The built-in 512GB NVMe SSD comes from Kingston, you can also install an optional SSD for more storage space. Acer has included a bracket installed inside the laptop with the cable already attached, and you also get a bag with 4 screws to mount an extra SSD drive. All in all a very good laptop for everyday work, surfing the web and watching movies, fast processor, I like the big sharp screen and large keyboard layout, the price is great for what you get but I would have I wanted a faster RAM configuration and 2 RAM slots without built-in RAM. Acer could have improved this laptop with some improvements to the keyboard, a bigger battery, and a slightly more expensive 16GB version, but I think there are tradeoffs to make if you're going for a competitive price point. Hope that helps.
