Review on ASA ASA E6B CIRC Circular Flight Computer by Desmin Dickerson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very similar to the good old Jeppesen CR-5

Very similar to the (discontinued) Jeppesen CR-5 - probably the closest I've found: same size, similar design and build quality (the only slight difference I was able to determine the position of the mach number window.) - In fact (subjective impression) I would say that this ASA model is even more legible (perhaps due to the color choice) than the original CR-5. The only downsides are that: i) it shouldn't have been called the E6-B - as it could be confused with the traditional E6-B design (see the excellent ASA Color E6B aluminum trip computer, also available from Revain); and ii) It is probably not the best choice, if you're a student pilot - which you probably will - the aforementioned traditional aluminum E6-B should be chosen, which I think is more intuitive to use (plus, your basic trainer aircraft won't fly at altitude). Mach numbers, for which the CR design gives more accurate answers, and said that the traditional E6-B design is what is commonly cited in private pilot materials on the ground - and in written tests). its more convenient (IMHO) form factor. However, I love these gyro flight computers for geeky reasons and their more convenient (IMHO) form factor.
