We used this mount to place a 32" TV in a built in cupboard next to our fireplace. This is our formal living room and we didn't want a large TV sitting in it. around so we decided to hide it in a closet. I found this idea online and thought it would be worth the trouble with a small investment (note we installed an outlet in the closet). Despite some of the horror stories in the previous reviews, I decided to take a risk with this device. I had a bit of trouble finding the studs behind the solid 1" wooden panel, but I finally succeeded. The main mounting screws were a bit difficult to thread in, but that's the goal of a solid connection. I was lucky that the simple, flat TV mounting plate fitted our small TV perfectly and I didn't have to add an extension cord. After that, the installation went very smoothly. It was a bit of a balancing act getting the TV to sit flat, but I managed it. I strongly recommend reading the instructions before installing; Browsing other reviewers' comments for insights/tricks; and watching video tutorials. This device really helped us - good luck!
