I've had a hell of a time putting batteries in those crappy compartments, all three candles, not just one, so it wasn't just an anomaly. They literally blew my batteries apart. They really have to be put in there. Then I had to use pliers to remove the batteries. When trying to pull out the batteries, the lower compartments fall through. I've never had trouble putting batteries in other flameless candles I have. Also, you can see from the pictures I posted that the brightness is not constant. One candle looks as it should and the other barely burns. I wish I had played with them sooner before ordering three more sets! I liked how they looked when I took them out of the box so I was excited and bought more. As soon as they arrive I'm sending back all four of these cheaply made sets. Do yourself a favor and spend a few bucks more to buy another brand and avoid this and that company.
