Although I'm short, I have a lot of muscles especially in my back, shoulders and arms from participating in physical shows. I'm 5'0 and 135 pounds (36A or 34B) when not dieting. I'm skinny, but not exactly "thin", so finding clothes that fit "off the hanger" is a challenge (sleeves are NOT my friend). For things to fit properly, they shouldn't be so small that I accidentally tear the seams (at the shoulder/back) or so big that I look like I've been swallowed by a potato sack. However, due to the manufacturer's sizing of this dress, I ordered XS. Right out of the box, it looked like a long, shapeless t-shirt. I was pleasantly surprised with the fit, especially when I tied the included strap. For me, of course, it's not as blouse-sloppy as it is for the model. It's more like a fitted loose dress giving the illusion of an hourglass shape with pockets which I like better! (The "sloppy" haircut makes my boxy figure look like a sloppy potato skin.) But if you like a casual fit and have a thick frame, you can order a size or two up so there's enough fabric to create the effect of a achieve blouse. But if you're looking for a "fitter" dress, this dress might work if you order one size down. Minor things: I was expecting the 'wine' to be a dark red/burgundy color but it's more of a light cherry red." Cotton is lightweight so probably not ideal (no layers) for cold weather. Even if you're shy about it on your waist, patch pockets add extra material to the waist of this dress.
