I had a standard spring bar toilet paper dispenser. When installed, one end was too far from the other side and so it kept dropping the pulley and spring bar. So I took it off and patched the wall. Installing this new toilet paper holder was easy (although the holes on one side weren't quite vertical, most likely my fault), I was still able to install that side although it was a bit wobbly and you didn't realize it was slightly crooked :- ). I love that to change toilet paper all I have to do is lift the rod, put the roll on and lower it in place. No more dropping a stupid spring-loaded rod on the floor along with toilet paper (a big problem when you have a teenage boy who can't seem to aim). It's that simple, maybe this time my family will change roles (yeah, I really hope not). The holder feels heavy and well-made, as if it could actually be metal rather than metal-coated plastic. It also has a nice smooth finish (mine is chrome).
