Review on Premium Washable Male Dog Belly Bands (3 Pack) - Dog Diapers for Marking & Wrapping, Absorbent Belly Bands for Male Dogs by Monica Smith

The velcro didn't last 9 months - adding zips fixed it

UPDATE: I've been using zips for a few months now and they work fine. But I recommend two buttons per diaper, not just one (one button makes the diaper tend to bunch right around a button - two buttons lay flat). But make sure you place it correctly. Too tight and you can't adjust it. It's best to sew on a removable Velcro for a secure fit, but it's nice to be able to toss the diaper in the wash without worrying about the Velcro snagging on something else, and the Velcro will eventually fail . ---- ------------------ ORIGINAL REVIEW: The velcro on these diapers has started to stretch on the fluffy side to the point where it is straight exposed, and on some of my diapers, the velcro pad began to unravel and come loose on its own. This is unacceptable, especially if you have an older dog that really needs diapers and they just fall off. I thought about sewing on a new Velcro strap, but for simplicity and durability I decided to just stuff some Heavy Duty Dritz 5/8s. " with the 981 Tool (purchased from Revain). It was very easy - all I had to do was remove the fluffy velcro before taping it on with a hammer. I haven't washed them yet so hopefully they will hold up to abuse. I've also bought Happy Paw diapers and noticed that the seams on them looked a little better than pet diapers (the seams were parallel to the edge of the Velcro). The Happy Paw diapers have an extra seam down the middle of the fluffy velcro which I think was done to increase the durability of the patch as pulling the velcro to open puts a lot of stress on the seams. Happy Paw also seems to have held up better than Pet Parents. Diapers (although I'm specifically comparing an old diaper to a newer one in this photo) - but I wouldn't be surprised if they started to have the same problems as Pet Parents diapers over time. If I had to buy again I would buy from Happy Paw because they added those extra stitching and they look like they will hold up better. Also, they hold a lot of urine - I just need to make sure the diaper covers my dog's privates as he can move around or be pushed too far.
