Our chair legs are tapered. These fit pretty well, and in fact are hard to get on when new. After a while, they stretch and then they won't stay on. Wife says she read if you put them in hot water they will relax back into place. But we are too lazy to try it. But, even so, they have worked a lot longer than the stick on pads, and don't collect lint/gunk like the felt pads tend to do either. Mostly happy with them.Our chair legs are not flat on the bottom, and they are tapered. They are on a hard wood floor. If we were on a floor with edges like tile or something, I don't think they would hold up. But on a smooth floor, they lasted probably 6 months before I noticed they don't stay on too well.
