I studied the Canon IS2 series but found that the LCD screen was too small and the swivel system for this screen is completely useless. Canon's camera design is very inferior to Panasonic's. I love the look of the Lumix FZ7. It's small enough to be carried around (fits in my smallest camera bag). Its controls are quite simple, although I haven't learned how to use them yet. I recently took this camera to a Billy Joel concert and got some pretty decent shots on the 800 speed setting and 12x zoom. It took me about 50 shots to get used to the controls and finally get decent shots. This camera can do a lot if you have the time and patience to learn it. I've found that I can use manual control when I want to take artistic photos (my favorite look) and when I go for the easy setting it works just like point and shoot. ADVANTAGES: 1. Fast shutter response2. Long battery life 3. Uses traditional SD cards4. looks good and feels good. CONS: 1. It takes a lot of study to find the best manual exposure settings. own battery 3. I can't think of anything else to complain about. I've also shot some very cool video clips, even at concerts they come out almost as good as my Canon Mini-DV. I wouldn't replace it with a camcorder anyway, but the lighting on the video is way better than my camcorder. Back to the photos, why I bought this camera in the first place. The colors are very real. I have no complaints yet. At first I thought it was a problem with the batteries as they are Panasonic property but I used the camera almost continuously for two hours with the LCD screen and zoom and the battery was still there. These batteries last a long time, I also found that I could buy replacements from other companies for as little as $15. I originally bought this camera for 276.00 and Revain have credited me 3 times already, I ended up paying 248.00 for it after they adjusted the price. That's why I buy Revain! I've had this camera for a little over a month. I will try to come back later after more intensive use.
