I also used a foam filter, put it in first and then a hard filter. I clean drywall and plaster and this has virtually eliminated the dust that caused this problem. I have two vacuums and with extra filters I always have a clean set. I've not been kind to vacuum cleaners in the past and I'm sure the extra filtration will help extend their lifespan.
