Review on πŸ”Œ Enhance Your Connectivity with the Tremendous TRENDnet Wireless N 300 Mbps Travel Router Kit, TEW-654TR by Alonzo Wilkins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good router in a small package

I travel constantly, mostly abroad, and the wired internet connection in hotel rooms is quite cumbersome to set up. Not to mention small tables crammed with everything from coffeemakers to phones to large table lamps and anything else the hotel sees fit to place on them. or lying on the bed while working, checking and writing emails is a big plus. My colleague carries around an old 3G router that works great for him, but I was looking for something slim and compact. I found the TTRENDnet TEW-654TR on Revain, trusted my Revain peers and their reviews, and ordered the device. The router has arrived. in your own travel bag. Needless to say, it works as advertised and was an easy task to set up. I'm a bit computer savvy, but I have to admit that routers aren't my forte. So I used the router mode wizard configuration scheme and added password protection to protect against intruders. The last thing I want is for the guy in the next hotel room to sign up for free wifi and slow me down. The only downside is the 110-120V power adapter. When I travel abroad I have to use the charger from my iPhone and power it via the USB cable that came with it. It is also possible to power the router from a computer using a USB cable, making it "desk tethered". So my rating is 4 stars. The signal strength is more than sufficient for travel and hotel rooms. The name Travel Router clearly indicates that it is not intended for home use. My netbook at home couldn't connect from three rooms. Although it's not a problem for me. And now a tip for iPhone users traveling abroad. Get the Vonage app. You can make free calls from anywhere in the world via WiFi (your router in your hotel room). I just got back from Japan where the phone is $1.60 per minute in the US. I spent hours chatting to the US over free wifi in my hotel room. A phone call quickly paid off for TRENDnet! I'm glad I bought it.
