I bought this so I could plug it into a multiport "cigarette" adapter instead of the Garmin adapter that takes everything. I see a lot of people complaining that some cables only transmit data, some only charge, some do both, and some do nothing. GPS device while driving! It powers it just like the included adapter, without the bulky plug taking up your entire 12V port. The cable is also well made and I have no doubts about the durability. I know it's a dime, but I didn't mind spending a few bucks more for something guaranteed to work with Garmin devices. I've encountered many cables that don't work properly with these GPS units!
