Review on πŸŽ™οΈ Sony ICD-SX712 Digital Voice Recorder with Flash Memory by Erik Gerber

Amazing audio recording; unsafe stand mounting

I like this device. I bought it to use with the Dragon transcription software. For that, it works well except when I'm shooting without a headset in a noisy car. (I know, yes!) I've also used it to record public gatherings without taking handwritten notes. What amazes me is how clearly the "encounter scene” picks up voices even from afar, in a crowd, even when hidden in my purse! He was also excellent at recording the wedding singer's voice from a pew halfway into the church. Very economical battery consumption. Connecting to a speaker improves playback by a million percent compared to built-in playback. Dragging and dropping files to my computer is very easy. One downside: the tripod mount is on the included snap-on plastic stand, not on the recorder itself, and the plastic stand doesn't attach very securely to the recorder. I just bought a mini gorillapod tripod for it and the recorder likes to pop out of the stand when I level the tripod.
