Review on TRENDnet 54Mbps Wireless Access TN 430APB by Jamie Rogers

I waited a full week in the field before writing this review. This was my first review. Trendnet product - for use as a wireless Ethernet bridge. I was concerned about the quality and other things based on some very bad reviews on this site. But apart from some flaws in the documentation, the product itself works very well. I don't know what chipset the product is based on, but maybe I came across one with a good chipset and a stable reference design. This is just as good compared to the Linksys and D-Link products I own. Configuration is very easy if you have basic knowledge of networks, IP settings, etc. admin) and password. (Admin) info. Plugged my laptop into the router, started IE, dialed 192.168.1.100 and connected to the router's webpage. I configured it to support hotspot mode, configured SSID, WEP key and bingo, it connected to my Wireless G network and worked as the ethernet bridge I wanted. This is almost 40% less expensive compared to Linksys and D-Link wireless network bridges. And in my experience it's worth it. A few tips: 1) It helps not to connect a WLAN antenna when setting up. 2) Helps set up a dedicated computer (e.g. laptop). This way you can avoid IP address conflicts when configuring Trendnet. 3) Make sure the computer to be configured has the same subnet IP address (192.168.1.X), where X is any number between 1 and 254 except 100 (as this is the default Trendnet address).
