This is one of those toys that's a lot better in theory than it is in real life. The idea is quite simple: if you place a vehicle in the appropriate space on the puzzle board, you will be rewarded with the sound the vehicle makes. In practice, this puzzle is not ideal in a number of ways: 1. There is no on/off switch. You cannot play this puzzle in silent mode.2. The puzzle makes a sound when the sound generating mechanism is triggered NOT when the correct piece is placed in the correct slot. That means if my 18 month old picks up a piece and accidentally slides it anywhere on the board, they will be rewarded with a sound. She's not interested in learning how to "solve" the puzzle, and she certainly won't figure out which vehicle makes which noise.3. If you place a piece in a puzzle and the sound is playing, placing the second piece will not interrupt the sound. This means that you can place, for example, a helicopter and still hear the sound of, for example, an ambulance, because that's the last piece you placed on the board. Again, this isn't very conducive to actually learning anything (and I encourage you to teach your toddler to wait before throwing another puzzle piece on the board!).
