Review on ๐ŸŽค IK Multimedia iRig Mic HD 2: High-Definition Handheld Digital Microphone for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and PC - A Detailed Review and Buying Guide by Randy Albright

Poor/lack of customer service. Doesn't work properly with iOS

Microphone HD 2 doesn't work properly with iPad/iPhone running iOS 11.4. The old Mic HD v1 did this. IKMultimedia (iRig) support is stalking me, not responding at all, and has a patchy warranty claim system. Two stars because the mic works and appears to be of normal quality but does not work at all as advertised and is not supported. DETAILS SiOS incorrectly identifies this microphone as a "headset" and routes audio playback from the iPad/iPhone through the microphone's built-in headphone jack. What you get is SILENCE for all audio playback when this mic is plugged in (unless you're using headphones plugged into the mic). I understand this is a frustrating iOS limitation that doesn't allow you to select the internal speakers when using the mic from a "headset", HOWEVER there is no information about it, no support for a solution. I've heard that there may be new firmware to fix the issue, but the iRig firmware update utility is completely non-functional and fails to detect this mic on at least three recent OS X High Sierra (2017) operating systems; OS X Sierra (2016); Windows 10 (2015). There's no support anywhere, so. I think I'm out of luck? Visit the company's support forums. It's littered with support stories like this one. Also, don't lose your serial number, which is printed on the tiny piece of paper that isn't attached to the microphone, because without it, you won't be able to easily get assistance or jump through many hurdles.
