Let me start by saying that we're new to cooking so some things that might be obvious to others weren't for us. I bought them with the intention of eating healthier and saving time/money. We usually pack white rice, stir-fries and vegetable side dishes. We wrap the container in cling film before putting the lid on to avoid staining the rubber stopper and to make cleaning easier. So far we haven't had any leaks. In terms of portion control, the size is perfect for my husband (5'9", 170 pounds) but a bit too roomy for me (5'2", 130 pounds, 1600 calories per day). There's not a lot of room to work if, like us, you're putting roasts on rice. I suppose it would be better to get a container with one compartment if you need to "gather" food. This 3 compartment container is best suited when you need to keep your food separate. It also conducts heat well and food is heated easily and evenly. I was worried about what a sudden temperature change (from a cold fridge to microwave electromagnetic radiation) would do to the glass, but so far it hasn't cracked! The glass is very thick, thicker than a regular pyrex container. I dropped it once while it was in my very thin lunch bag and it wasn't hurt. It's heavy, so if you're looking for something light, this isn't it! We don't have a dishwasher, so we hand wash this item, and let me tell you, it can be excruciating! It's annoying to stick your fingers in those little compartments and try to scoop up grease and other debris from the corners. And you have to do this 3 times! In that sense it's a waste of time. My husband and I hate it so much we sometimes leave them for a few days arguing over who should wash them - hence the 4 star rating.
