I've been using 100 watt PowerSun bulbs over my 300 gram turtle pond for about 4 years and swap them out every 6-9 months but decided to keep the 100's try out Watts Evergreen Pear this time. The Evergreen bulb was $20 cheaper, physically larger, and has an almost clear lens compared to the PowerSun's opaque lens. The first bulb had a small problem but the company responded immediately and replaced it within 2 days. This lamp has a more greenish hue in the spot beam just above the heating area where the strong sun was white, but I have a feeling this may change when turned on. The previous lamp kept the heat at a 90 degree angle at a distance of 12 inches. This lamp is longer and at 10 inches it also keeps the area at 90. I noticed the turtles were immediately keen to get under it and seemed to like the light. Time will tell how it will hold up or if the color will become more consistent over time like medium voltage bulbs do, but I'm glad to have a more economical lighting alternative and excited to be working with such a customer focused company.
