If you need a light/medium weight rail this should work.
I installed this on a set of wooden ladders and it didn't have the fasteners for it; They only seem to be intended for installation on concrete or brick. One thing that would be really helpful is a paper hole template to help with the installation. I had to position the posts and make marks and hope I didn't move. Also, regarding the installation - the "sleeve" or "sleeve" that hides the screws holding the rack to the surface - plan on using tape to keep it out of the way while you tighten the fasteners. ok - seems sturdy enough (provided you don't climb it) and my dad appreciated that it was put on steps.
